Playing Chess

I like playing chess
This I must confess
I like to play with Dad
Else playing can be bad
When I win in one game
The rest all go the same
My dad doesn’t complain
All I have to do is explain
My Dad thinks I am better
He likes to write me a letter

Telling me how good I am
I showed my letter to Sam
“Oh…this is so nice,” Sam said
I didn’t say a word instead
I smiled a very big smile
Then I kept the letter in my file.

I will never grow up

I am a child, a wonderful gift
Look at me, look at my innocence
A flower, a fresh fresh flower
Look in my eyes and gladly pause
I will never want to grow up because
I fear to look the beasts in their faces
I don’t want to see my own blood
I will not allow them to treat me bad
I don’t want to die like those in Iraq
Even if those just didn't have luck
I don’t want to sing sad songs either
Or to be carried in beautiful boxes
Covered with the National Flags
Coiled up, feeling the cold of colds
Knowing that I'll forever be away
I don’t want to grow up to be
I will never, never agree.
